Bumpy coats

A friend of mine is pregnant (actually, quite a few of them are at the moment - must be something in the water!), and she's just started to dip her toe in the maternity-wear waters. She told me her coats are starting to get a bit tight and, as the weather's getting noticeably colder, she doesn't want to be stuck with coats that won't do up over her bump. So I've put a few ideas together of the type of outerwear that would accommodate a growing bump. Aside from the obvious maternity wear - New Look, Topshop and Asos do a fashionable range for all you Plus-Ones out there (check out the faux fur number from Asos below: love) - there are a few styles that work well over a bump, namely capes, swing coats and wrap coats. Belted coats with enough fabric to cover you as you grow are also stylish and won't feel as restrictive as a buttoned-up number. You can tie the belt high underneath your chest and display your bump proudly and stylishly.

So for any Plus-One readers (with your 'plus one' being that baby you have on board), don't panic that the words 'fashion' and 'style' will be going out the window as your bump grows. I'm planning an extension of my blog to include yummy mummies-to-be, and I'll keep you posted once it's up and running.
